(5/19/17) A petition has been filed on change.org, following the cancellation of ABC's hit comedy Last Man Standing, featuring conservative 2A supporter Tim Allen. The show was cancelled in spite of the fact that it was ABC's second most popular comedy, with a 1.2 rating and 6.4 million total viewers in it's sixth season according to Nielsen live-plus-same day numbers. The show's conservative lead, played by Allen, has many crying foul and pointing the finger at ABC for cancelling the show due to ABC's left leaning corporate culture. States the petition, "Last Man Standing stands out in the sea of network television sitcoms. It is a show that appeals to a broad swath of Americans who find very few shows that extol the virtues with which they can identify; namely conservative values...The intent of this petition/boycott is to attempt to get ABC to renew the show."
Allen plays Mike Baxter on the show, a marketing guru for the fictional Outdoor Man superstore (think Cabela's). Throughout the show, Baxter espouses his pro First and Second Amendment views, among his other conservative values, while being balanced out by his liberal leaning wife and daughter.
There is, however, already a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, as Variety is reporting that 20th Century Fox Television is seeking a new home for the show.
